DEAN MURRAY : TABS Trustee
Married farther of two, Qualified teacher that teaches many subjects within the animal science curriculum. First encountered TABS when a sister charity of TABS helped to find affordable accommodation for me and my young family, it was during this time that I was told about a trip to Kenya with TABS International.
I have always wanted to make a difference and after learning more about TABS, I knew that this is something that I needed to do and very quickly jumped at the opportunity.
The time spent with Rachel and the team on that trip changed my outlook on life and help set me on the road of working with young people.
Dean’s past
My employment past is a colourful one, working on building sites, slaughter halls, butchers, outdoor education, zoos, aquariums and farms are just a few of them. But the experiences that really shaped me was my time spent working with animals and young people.
I have been in and out of education and have manged to obtain a few degrees and a teaching qualification: FdSc Marine Conservation – BSc Applied Zoology – MSc Environmental Consultancy – Level 5 Diploma in Education.
Deans down time and interests
I don’t really get much down time, but when I do, I will spend my time out in nature and good quality time with my wife and kids.
Interests and hobbies… There are several of them!
In addition to enjoying photography and some filming, I have a strong interest in how the natural world works and how people interact with it.
I live in Cornwall and try to spend as much of my free time as possible near the sea. This can involve a variety of activities like coastal walks, swimming, kayaking, fishing, snorkelling, body boarding and “trying” to surf.
